Good News -There is Hope After Divorce

Good News: THERE IS HOPE AFTER DIVORCE!

Have you just been divorced? Has your heart been ripped into a million pieces? There is no trauma like the trauma of
divorce, especially if children are involved.
Do you need a new beginning? You can have one. The living God is a God of new beginnings. There is healing for your
heart right now. God loves you. He is for you. He wants you to be happy.
Millions of people survive a divorce – only to be divorced again, only to be hurt again, only to linger in misery. The sting of
rejection and betrayal, the anguish of abuse, the death of dreams, the faultiness of our own judgments, the annoying
imperfections and faults of others – these things seem to say: there is no hope, you can never be happy.

There is hope after divorce – but hope for what?
If you are hoping to find a perfect man who will make you happy or a man you can change, forget it. If you are hoping to
find a perfect woman, forget it. There are no ideal people – there are only real people. Furthermore, you can’t change
people – you can only accept them and love them. The only person you can change is YOU.

There is hope after divorce – for you to find the sure way to be happy.
There is hope after divorce – for you to tap into God’s wisdom and make wise choices.
There is hope after divorce – for you to have a good relationship with your children, even if you do not have custody.
There is hope after divorce – for you to be reconciled to your ex spouse if their actions have not made that impossible (and
sometimes that happens). I personally knew a couple who were divorced. She was unfaithful, but when her lover did not
divorce his wife, she came to her senses, repented, went back to her ex, who graciously forgave her and remarried her.
Adultery is not the unpardonable sin – either by God or by man.
There is hope after divorce – for you to find a godly person and be happily married.
There is hope after divorce – for you to learn to love an imperfect person and build a future together for the glory of God.
There is hope after divorce – for you to fulfill all the will of God for your life. Church denominations may cast you out –
but God does not. Divorce does not disqualify you from being used by God – in any capacity. What counts with God is the
purity of your heart.

The devil is the divider of homes and the destroyer of hearts. The devil is a liar. The devil will tell divorced people: you are
trash, second class; it’s over for you; you have no future.
Do not let the devil’s lies go unchallenged.
•        When the devil tempts you to think that you are unlovable, unattractive and inferior, rise up and tell him that God
loves you unconditionally, that God made you, that God don’t make no junk, and that God has made you worthy by the
blood of His Son!
•        When the devil taunts you by prophesying that you are going under, that no one will notice whether you live or die,
rise up and tell him that you are God’s masterpiece, personally handcrafted for a special purpose, that nothing will
separate you from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus your Lord, that God will supply all your needs.
•        When the devil mocks you by reminding you of your past and all your failures and scorns you by telling you that you
make the same mistakes over and over and that you have made a mess of your life, rise up and tell him that the blood of
Jesus has made you a brand new creature, that God has no record of your sin, that He who began a good work in you will
complete it, and that you are increasing in the wisdom of God!

If you want a new beginning, do these four things.
First, adopt God’s opinion of you. See yourself as God does. Get rid of all negative thinking about yourself. Base your self-
image on unchanging truth.
Second, look at what you’ve got left, not at what you’ve lost. Focus on your possibilities, not on your past. Dream with God’
s ability factored in. Have a positive, optimistic outlook on life by including God and His promises.
Third, use your mouth to prophesy good over yourself. When your mouth lines up with God’s Word, the Holy Spirit will go
to work to change your life.
Fourth, find a pastor after God’s own heart to help you rebuild your life. Every believer, without exception, needs a local
church and a pastor. That means YOU!

First, what is God’s opinion of you? Does God agree with the devil and think that you are a loser? Absolutely not! Would it
surprise you that God sees you as a champion, regardless of your past record or present circumstances?
The Holy Spirit inspired the Apostle Paul to write: “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who
loved us.” Romans 8:37
God wants you to connect again with His love for you so that you can win in life. The idea is not that we have no problems.
Life without problems is an illusion. The idea is that Jesus loves us so powerfully that He has made us phenomenal
overcomers!
Thinking and talking like this is the starting point of your recovery.
Declare this: “I AM WHO GOD SAYS I AM. I AM – RIGHT NOW – MORE THAN A CONQUEROR THROUGH HIM WHO
LOVES ME!”

Second, look at what you have. Look at what you’ve got left. What do you have?
The devil will tell you that you have no future, no power, no hope, no faith, no reason to live, no talents, no friends, no
voice in the earth, and no way to escape the mess you are in.
I say: it’s time for you to laugh at the devil! I’LL TELL YOU WHAT YOU HAVE!
You have a relationship with Jesus. You have a Savior who saves to the uttermost. You have a Healer who is greater than
every disease. You have a Provider who is more than enough. You have a Deliverer who can break every chain. You have
a great High Priest who is touched with feeling of your weakness. You have an Advocate with the Father when you sin.
You have a Friend who sticks closer than a brother. You have a Guide who knows the best path. You have a Shepherd who
watches over you personally. You have a Champion who has given you His armor. You have mountain-moving faith. ALL
THAT IS GOD’S IS YOURS. ALL GOD’S RESOURCES ARE YOURS. You have an everlasting blood covenant with
Almighty God!
That’s what you have! Now say so! Say: “I HAVE WHAT GOD SAYS I HAVE!”

Ask yourself: “What can I do?” The Holy Spirit inspired the Apostle Paul to write: “I can do all things through Christ who
strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
Jesus is YOUR strengthener, not just Paul’s. Jesus wants to infuse His strength into you today. What can you do through
Christ? I’ll tell you what you can do!
You can walk by faith! You can overcome! You can make it. You can make it through the dark valley. You can outlast the
storm. You can get back up after you’ve fallen. You can put your past behind you. You can dream again. You can begin
again. You can rebuild your life – only wiser this time. You can grow, change and adopt new ways. You can make new
friends. You can prosper when it seems impossible. You can make good decisions. You can solve problems.
That’s just a fraction of what you can do! Say so! Make your mouth do its duty!

Last – but not least – you desperately need the personal touch of a local church and a caring pastor. You do NOT need to
hibernate. You do NOT need to be anonymous. The worst thing you can do is be a loner.
You have got to connect with God’s plan for your life. God loves you and He has a good plan for your life. Part of that plan
involves His people.
